La Posada de Engelbert La Paz, Mexico

Hotel La Posada de Engelbert, on the beach in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico, offers guests the hospitality and comfort of a colonial Mexican hacienda. Owned by the world-renowned singer, Engelbert Humperdinck, the hotel has been a secret hideaway for many Hollywood celebrities.

Elegant, charming colonial hotel on the beach

Nestled on an inviting white sand beach on the outskirts of the City of La Paz in Baja California, Mexico is the Hotel La Posada de Engelbert, lovingly restored to its old world charm by its owner, the world-renowned singer Engelbert Humperdinck. Over the years, this seaside resort with it's tranquil setting among sculpted pool side gardens of bougainvillea’s and palms, has been a secret hideaway to many Hollywood celebrities including Bing Crosby and John Wayne.

Hotel services include air-conditioned Junior Suites and Casitas, a gourmet restaurant & bar with room service, a meeting room, telephones, satellite television and laundry, a beach side swimming pool, palapa bar and an activities center for planning special adventures around town or on the bay.

If you're looking for a vacation getaway of your own, where you can spend your days at the pool or on the beach, or enjoy a special trip exploring the nearby islands or the city, Hotel La Posada de Engelbert is the ideal place to stay.

The Management of Hotel La Posada de Engelbert keeps a vigilant eye on even the tiniest details of customer service, in order to guarantee their guests an unforgettable stay at a very reasonable price.

The size of the hotel allows us to guarantee excellent service. There are 20 comfortable and spacious suites and six "casitas" of either one or two bedrooms. Our suites and casitas are decorated in Mexican colonial style with the charm of an early 1800's "Hacienda."

In our restaurant, enjoy exquisite and varied International cuisine, including delicious Mexican flavors and fresh seafood from the area. Our bar, "The Rincon Bohemio," swings with live music for dancing, and is famous for its warmth and ambiance. During the day, experience total relaxation in our beautiful and welcoming gardens and swimming pool.

A meeting room can accommodate private or corporate gatherings up to 40 people, and the pool side patio is a favored spot for summer parties and weddings.

La Posada de Engelbert is located 10 minutes from the beautiful colonial city of La Paz, South Baja California, on the Playa Del Sur Beach, known for its white sand and turquoise sea. One of the major attractions of La Paz is the spectacular, multicolored and romantic sunsets.

And after a day of excitement, you'll return to the hotel to enjoy live Mexican music, folkloric dances (in season) or watch the sunset while you relax and enjoy dinner under the stars in our pool side patio restaurant.

Engelbert Humperdinck, the man the London Times called "the premiere voice of the century," is responsible for sales in excess of 130 million records in his 27-year career -- including 64 gold and 23 platinum albums. It all averages out to sales of 5 million records a year.

His current album, "Love Unchained," features Humperdinck's renditions of classics such as "Love Me Tender," "Unchained Melody," "Secret Love," "Such A Night" and "Dock Of The Bay," among many others.

"These are the songs I listened to as a boy, each with a special personal meaning," Humperdick explained. "They're number one hits from some of the greatest names in the business -- songs I've always wanted to do my way."

Born Arnold George Dorsey and raised in Leicester, England, Humperdinck started in music at age 11 playing the saxophone -- his singing career came purely by circumstance.

"I went to a small club in Leicester and everyone was getting up and singing. So I got up on stage and sang a ballad -- and I got a standing ovation," he recalled.

In 1965, Dorsey took the stage name of Engelbert Humperdinck, taken from the name of the 19th century German composer of the fairy tale, "Hansel and Gretel." Both his name and musical fortunes changed.

Since his 1967 hit, "Release Me," Humperdinck has developed a large base of zealous followers. He is the subject of the largest fan club in the world with over 8 million members and more than 250 chapters around the globe.

In nearly three decades of music, he has earned numerous honors and awards, including a Golden Globe for "Entertainer of the Year" and a star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Humperdinck is a contributor to and supporter of many charitable causes including the Leukemia Research Fund, International Red Cross, American Lung Association, Intercare and Reach Out, a charity that serves the needs of children afflicted with AIDS.

He and his wife of 30 years, Patricia, divide their time between homes in England and Beverly Hills, California.
