Loreto - the oldest town in Baja California greets visitors with unspoiled beaches, the azure Sea of Cortez – and world-class big game fishing. Surrounded by the magnificent Sierra de la Giganta mountain range and the spectacular desert, the waters in and around Loreto are considered by many as the world's finest big game fishing area. Though there are literally thousands of different fish species in the Sea of Cortez, most fishermen come for the abundance and great size of Sailfish, Marlin, Dorado, Yellowfin Tuna, Yellowtail and Roosterfish. The tranquil setting of the unspoiled town combines with an excellent choice of hotel accommodations to create the perfect Oasis for a weekend getaway. With new flights direct from San Diego just in time for the peak fishing season, look for an abundance of Cabrilla, Grouper, Sierra, Snappers – and prime Yellowtail.
