Mazatlan meaning "land of the deer" in
the ancient Nahuatl language offers 10 miles of inviting sandy beaches.
It's no wonder Mazatlan plays host to more than one million visitors per
year. These visitors will find plenty to keep them busy in Mazatlan
Mexico. Earth, sea and sky unite to offer an excellent destination for all
types of Mexico vacationers.
Mazatlan Mexico's
incomparable port city is one of the most important tourist destinations
in the world. Set in a beautiful cove of the Pacific, Mazatlan Mexico lies
at about the same latitude as the Hawaiian Islands. The temperature
fluctuates from mid-60's to mid-90's depending on the time of the year.
You can reach Mazatlan
by plane, from most major cities in the USA and Canada: there are non-stop
flights to Mazatlan’s International Airport, from Los Angeles, San Diego,
San Francisco, Phoenix, Denver, Chicago, Houston, Dallas and Vancouver,
and direct flights from México City, plus connecting flights from other
major cities. |

MAZATLAN EXCURSIONS:
There are many different excursions offered by various travel services. Here are
the most popular:
-
Historical Mazatlan
Tour: To really enjoy this one, do it aboard a "pulmonia"- Mazatlan’s
unique fun-filled, wind-cooled little taxi- with an English-speaking driver. A
three hour ride will take you through Mazatlan’s historical downtown area (Old
Mazatlan), New Mazatlan and the modern Zona Dorada.
-
Isla de la Piedra
(Stone Island Tour): a catamaran, trimaran or a small yacht will take you
around the bay to this unspoiled, lovely place, where you’ll find quiet
beaches and a tropical jungle teeming with exotic animals like armadillos,
iguanas, raccoons, pelicans, pink, blue, white and gray heron, amid lush
vegetation.
-
Harbor cruises and
island excursions: take a cruise around Mazatlan's Puerto Viejo bay and
visit its three islands ("Goat", "Deer" and "Bird"), where you can practice
snorkeling, scuba diving or swimming in its balmy waters. Jet Ski, kayak or a
small beach catamaran can also reach these islands.
-
Concordia and Copala
mountain tour: Visit these quaint mining colonial towns aboard a tour bus.
Admire among other things, the handcrafted wooden furniture of Concordia, and
Copala, and a pre-Hispanic mining town with a quaint mountainous town square.
Soft drinks and lunch are usually included.
CAR RENTALS:
Most American car rentals
can be found at the airport or along the Zona Dorada, for your convenience.
DINING:
You can find the best restaurants right inside your own hotel, within walking
distance all over the Zona Dorada or anywhere along the coast and in Old
Mazatlan area. Restaurants are mostly casual and offer bountiful and reasonably
priced meals. Most restaurants specialize in seafood and a very creative Mexican
Cuisine, but you can also find, international cuisine at the world famous
Grupo Anderson's Restaurants. You may
also satisfy your needs for fast food at the many establishments found in
Mazatlan.
NIGHT LIFE:
The Zona Dorada or "Golden Zone" in Mazatlan offers the finest night clubs,
discos and video bars to dance the night away. You can also stroll through the
streets while enjoying a serenade from a Mariachi band or listening to
Mazatlan’s tambora brass band.
FISHING:
Mazatlan is a fisherman’s
paradise that offers abundant fishing all year long. Fishing licenses and
charter fishing boats are available. Capture is limited to one billfish and 2
small game fish per angler per day; however, we strongly support bill-fishing
catch & release policies.
BIRD WATCHING:
Sign up for adventure! A
nature field trip in Mazatlan can be easily arranged at your hotel or in most
local travel agencies. Many duck species arrive to Mazatlan during the winter
months. Pheasant, quail, dove and other interesting wildfowl is also abundant
here, in "The Land of the Deer"!
SHOPPING:
Throughout Mazatlan, there
opportunities to purchase beautiful commodities ranging from fine jewelry to the
most traditional Méxican pottery and hand blown glass. However, if you are
looking for the latest style of clothing, that will make all your friends back
home jealous, stop in to the Sr. Frog's
Official Store.
