Rosarito Beach Overview
Rosarito
Beach has been a favorite getaway for Southern Californians since the first
movie stars began coming here to play in the 1930s. Over the years it has grown
into a booming beachfront community with luxurious resort hotels, top-notch
restaurants, nightclubs and world class shopping. In Rosarito, the prices are
affordable and the warm, friendly hospitality is legendary.
With its perfect year-round climate and 20 miles of wide, sandy beaches that
literally melt into the blue Pacific, Rosarito is the ideal place to
escape—whether it’s for a day, a weekend or longer. Located only 45 minutes
south of downtown San Diego, it’s quick and easy to get to. While traveling,
soak up spectacular views of mountains, dunes, cliffs, surf and sea.

Activities
Once you
have arrived, take a leisurely walk down the beach. Or get athletic. Go surfing,
fishing, kayaking, sailing, swimming, hiking, biking, boogie boarding or
horseback riding right near the beach.
Play a game of golf or tennis,
hit the gym or pamper yourself in one of the European style spas. Take a side
trip to the lovely colonial town of Tecate and visit the famous Tecate Brewery
or head south and tour the acclaimed wine growing region, Guadalupe Valley, just
north of Ensenada.
Rosarito hosts an annual International Seafood Fair, a Wine and Lobster
Festival, and a Mexican Food Fair. In April and September you can watch or ride
in the Rosarito-Ensenada 50 Mile Fun
Bike Ride or cheer at the three-wheeler competitions at the breath-taking
Cantamar Sand Dunes, enter a biathlon or triathlon, a five or 10K run, a beach
volleyball tournament or a sand castle building contest.
Whether
you prefer a luxury resort on the sand, a condo or beach house, a moderately
priced hotel, an RV park or just want to camp on the beach—it’s all right here!
Oceanside, ocean views, upscale or down home—you will find the ideal place to
stay in Rosarito—one that fits both your lifestyle and your budget! If you are
planning a wedding, anniversary, seminar or other special event—we guarantee you
will not be disappointed!
Dining
Over 90
restaurants await your discovery—offering up everything from mouth-watering fish
and carne asada tacos at street side stands to international cuisine and
award-winning Mexican wines from Baja, at elegant restaurants. Sip a Margarita
or an exotic tropical drink as you watch the sun slip into the sea. Treat
yourself to authentic Mexican dishes, the freshest seafood imaginable, a
sizzling steak or some delicious sushi, Spanish tapas, or French, Cajun and
Chinese cuisine.
Half way between Fox Studios and the world’s
most famous Puerto Nuevo "lobster village" is a
place you won't want to miss. It is Galería Giorgio Santini and it showcases the
very best of Baja's art.
After you have feasted your eyes there, continue on to Puerto Nuevo. Stroll down
its picturesque main street, exploring shops full of Mexican arts and crafts.
Stop in at one of its restaurants and enjoy a whole Puerto Nuevo lobster, served
the way it has always been served—sliced lengthwise and deep fried, with beans,
rice and handmade flour tortillas on the side, and a Mariachi band playing
soulful music over your shoulder.
Nightlife
At night,
Rosarito bursts at the seams with life. There are wild and crazy bars where you
can ride a mechanical bull, play volleyball in the sand, shoot tequila, dance
till you drop and party till the roosters crow. The most popular is
Papas & Beer. There are authentic
Mariachi and Ballet Folklórico shows, karaoke bars, elegant nightclubs and
plenty of places in between.
Shopping
There are
hundreds of shops in Rosarito, offering up something for every taste and to fit
every pocketbook. It is undeniably the custom furniture, pottery, quality
leather goods, jewelry and folk art capital of northern Mexico. You can even
shop for duty free perfumes and liquor.
